Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Ordo application, Ordo Cloud, and related websites and services provided by Axolet.

Effective and last updated: September 18, 2026

Privacy Terms Security
Important distinction

These Terms govern services Axolet provides, including Ordo Cloud. The separately licensed Ordo source code is governed by the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. Independently hosted servers are operated by their respective operators, not by Axolet.

1. Acceptance

By creating an Ordo Cloud account, accessing Ordo Cloud, or otherwise using an Axolet-operated Ordo service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

If you use Ordo for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" includes the organization.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally capable of entering into these Terms. Ordo is not directed to children under 13. If you are below the age at which you may consent to online services in your location, you may use Ordo Cloud only with authorization from a parent or legal guardian.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate account information, keep your credentials secure, and promptly revoke unfamiliar sessions or notify Axolet of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account except to the extent caused by Axolet's breach of these Terms or applicable law.

You may not share credentials in a way that compromises the service, impersonate another person, or create accounts through abusive or automated means.

4. The service

Ordo lets you save and organize links, extract readable content, track reading state, set reminders, and import or export supported bookmark data. Features may vary by app version, device, server configuration, and deployment.

We may maintain, modify, suspend, or discontinue features to improve or protect Ordo, comply with law, or address technical constraints. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. If Axolet introduces a paid service, pricing and any additional payment terms will be disclosed before you are charged.

5. Your content and saved links

You retain your rights in the URLs, labels, folders, tags, highlights, profile images, and other content you submit ("User Content"). You grant Axolet a limited, non-exclusive license to host, copy, fetch, process, transmit, and display User Content only as necessary to operate, secure, and improve the services you request.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit User Content and that your use of Ordo will not violate law or third-party rights. Saving a link does not give you ownership of the linked page or its content.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use Ordo to:

  • violate law, intellectual-property rights, privacy rights, or contractual restrictions;
  • store, distribute, or facilitate malware, unlawful material, exploitation, harassment, or fraud;
  • probe, disrupt, overload, evade limits, or gain unauthorized access to Ordo, its users, or connected systems;
  • use automated requests in a manner that unreasonably burdens Ordo Cloud or third-party websites;
  • circumvent security controls or use link extraction to access private, local, or unauthorized network resources; or
  • resell or provide access to Ordo Cloud without Axolet's written permission.

7. Third-party services and content

Ordo interacts with websites and services not controlled by Axolet. Linked content may be inaccurate, unavailable, unsafe, offensive, or subject to separate terms. You are responsible for deciding which links to save or open. Axolet does not endorse and is not responsible for third-party content, websites, software, or privacy practices.

8. Self-hosting

If you operate or connect to an independent Ordo server, that server is outside Axolet's control. Its operator is responsible for authorization, notices and consents, network security, TLS, configuration, updates, email delivery, monitoring, backups, legal compliance, and data loss. Axolet does not operate, monitor, or back up independently hosted servers.

Your agreement with a third-party server operator, if any, governs that service. Axolet's publication of source code does not make Axolet responsible for a third party's deployment or modifications.

9. Open-source software

The Ordo source code is available under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. That license governs copying, modification, and distribution of the covered software. These Terms govern Axolet-operated services and do not restrict rights granted by the open-source license.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Ordo Cloud and delete your account through the app. Axolet may limit, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a material breach of these Terms, protect users or systems, comply with law, or discontinue the service.

Where practicable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export supported data, but immediate action may be necessary for security, abuse, or legal reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations, and general provisions.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Axolet-operated services are provided "as is" and "as available." Axolet disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment. Axolet does not warrant that extracted content will be complete or accurate, that reminders will always be delivered, or that data will never be lost.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Axolet and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from Ordo or these Terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Axolet's aggregate liability for claims relating to an Axolet-operated service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Axolet for that service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or USD 100. These limits do not apply where liability cannot legally be limited.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to Ordo, law, or our operations. We will post the revised Terms and change the effective date. For material changes affecting existing Ordo Cloud users, we will provide additional notice where reasonably practicable. Continued use after the revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

14. General

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified only as needed and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without Axolet's consent; Axolet may assign them as part of a merger, reorganization, asset transfer, or by operation of law.

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any terms presented for a specific Axolet service are the entire agreement concerning that service. Mandatory consumer protections and applicable law remain unaffected.

15. Contact

Ordo is made and operated by Axolet. Questions about these Terms may be submitted through the Ordo repository. Do not include confidential or personal information in a public issue.
